A British-Iranian mother is currently jailed by the mullahs’ regime in Iran and her family is seriously concerned about both her deteriorating health and the risk of her committing suicide.
37-year-old Nazanin Zaghar Ratcliffe lived in northwest London and was sentenced by Iran’s so-called judiciary system to two years behind bars back in May. While attempting to board a flight returning to the UK back in April she was suddenly arrested by the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and even separated from Gabriella, her two-year old daughter. The IRGC has gone as far as confiscating Gabriella’s British passport, making her unable to leave Iran.
Richard, Nazanin’s husband, fears travelling to Iran will lead to his arrest. He has raised major concerns about his wife’s deteriorating status in prison. Nazanin may even resort to committing suicide, her husband warns.
Nazanin was sentenced by the mullahs’ regime to five years in prison back in September, under the bogus charge of spying for the West. This is a known method practiced by the Iranian regime to arrest – read take hostage – dual nationals, individuals with dual citizenships.
Tehran is taking advantage of this case to pursue a disagreement with London, claiming the UK owes Iran around £500 million for a deal regarding tanks dating back to four decades ago.
